Have you ever heard of She Speaks? Its a weekend conference in late July, hosted by Proverbs 31 Ministries geared toward equipping women who desire to write, to speak or lead in women's ministry. This week they are offering a scholarship for the conference to those who have a blog and write a post on why they would like to attend. So here's me...writing...and praying my entry gets chosen.
For three years now I have desired to go to She Speaks. The first year, I was too late to register. (Due to the structure of the conference, only a limited number can attend.) The second year (which would be last year) I was all ready to register as soon as it was open and then dear hubby lost his job. And here we are at year three. Dear hubby is still without a job and there is just no way for me to attend without a full scholarship.
Why do I want to go? Well, because my heart is to love some Jesus through loving His children by educating them on their identity in Christ and how that looks on the pavement of "everyday-ness". And I have grown to deeply love His daughters and to teach them, connect with them and serve them, whether here on my blog, on Sunday mornings during Sunday School, or by rubbing shoulders with them in conversation, day in and day out. Doors of opportunity are opening for me to minister to these women in a more structured fashion and I am just DYING for a chance to be taught how I go about ministry in a better way! I would love an opportunity to fine-tune my skills and get some guidance and direction, tools and resources.
So there you have it: why I want to attend and why I desperately need a scholarship. If begging were allowed, I'd include a video of me jumping up and down with my hands flying in the air yelling, "Pick me! Pick me! Pick me!" But, as I might need to change my panties after that, and as begging is not allowed, I'll just end the post here. :-)
LOL! You just cracked me up. And made me wish for you to have the opportunity to attend this year. Three years of waiting... Praying that this year you will wait no longer.
