He will. Will we?

I wrote the post on Hosea 6 before my mom-in-law died. Days after the funeral and family had left, I was re-reading some of my stuff and came across it. I felt it more acutely and it seemed more applicable. I don't even remember the circumstances that brought me to that particular scripture, but here today, it applies to me. (And I promise, this is the last depressing post on death.)

I feel as if our family was torn to pieces by this death, yet He has healed us with His promise that one day we will all be together again. We've been injured by the sting of death and yet He will bind up our wounds with resurrection life. After a little while, He will revive us, and more, He will restore us...that we may live forever with Him and our loved ones gone on before. In light of that, let us acknowledge the Lord, let us press on to keep Him the focus. He will appear. He will come to us. He will.

Dear hubby asked one night if something happened to my parents would there be anything I would wish I had said or done. And with relief, I could say no. What about you? If something happened to your loved ones, would you live with regrets?

Do you need to do some mending? Some loving? Some forgiving? Do you need to tell someone the truth? Do it, before you don't have the chance.

I think if sins were graduated on a scale of horrible-ness, gluttony would be near the top. Gluttony of time, thinking we have all the time in the world and don't need to restore relationships now because we can get to it later. Or we don't need to do ANYTHING right now because we are not in a rush. Oh friends, we are not promised tomorrow. If we woke today, its because God has a purpose for us today. Perhaps that purpose is to take care of what you have left undone. Or maybe, what someone else left a mess and you have been chosen to clean it up.

Maybe I'm off touch here...but brushing up next to mortality gives you a slight lift in the fog giving momentary clarity to our spiritual sight. Some things are worth fighting for. Some are not. Some things are worth carrying around for the rest of our earthly lives. And some are not. You know, Paul, our beloved apostle we keep on a first name basis...Paul said the only thing he carried around with him was the death of Christ, that he might be life to the saints. Or something like that.

What are you carrying around? And what are you willing to do? What did God wake you for to do today? Do it, today. He did. Will you?
