A friend of mine found out last month that she had a lump in her breast. It was removed last week. And then she found out that it was cancer. Today she heard from the doctor that she not only has to have a mastectomy, she also has another type of cancer on top of the breast cancer. They are doing scans on the other side of her body to make sure it hasn't spread. Along with the mastectomy they will remove some, if not all, of her lymph nodes. Her name is Jessie, if you think to pray for her, I know she would appreciate it.
But that's not why I'm writing. I'm writing because of something I wrote to her. Something that was SO NOT me. Do you ever do that? You say or write something and think, "Well, that wasn't me!" (And I don't mean when your anger has burned up in you so much that you share your thoughts in four-letter-word increments!) What I mean is, when you say or write something that could only have been of God. You're not that wise or quick to think of something so profound. Well, maybe that only happens to me. :-) Anyway, it happened today. At the end of my email to Jessie, letting her know that I would continue praying, I wrote, "The Lord trusts you with this cancer."
The Lord trusts Jessie with this cancer.
Even now I am shaking my head and the tears have welled up in my eyes...where in the world did that come from! And more...what is He trusting with me? What has He given me that He is trusting me to bring Him glory and through it, share His love to those around me? What is it?
What is God trusting you with?
Isaiah 26:12 " LORD, you establish peace for us; all that we have accomplished You have done for us."
O Lord, whatever You are trusting us with, may we do right by You. May we bring you honor and glory as we carry out the weight of what we have received. And may we always remember, whatever we accomplish, it was always You. May we be worthy of the trust You have given. ~Amen
I love your comment. What an amazing thing to wonder what is God trusting me with. thank you for giving me a reason to reflect on what I am supposed to be doing to bring God the glory.
