Every so often my six-year-old has some of the CUTEST things to say. The kind of things that make your drink burn your throat because it almost comes out your nose trying not to laugh. Tonight was one of the best.
I asked Rachel what she thought about her grandmother in hospice (I didn't use that word though) and if she had any thoughts or questions about the whole situation. She replies by saying she hadn't been thinking about her. And then, as if she needs to explain further she says:
"She's just so old she got lost in my mind."
As if that needed any explanation at all.
Cute story!! Years ago my grandmother had to have her leg amputed(she passed away 8 years ago). My then 7 year old nephew hadn't seen her in a while so when he saw her he said, "I see you broke your leg off again". We still laugh about that one. When my daughter was 5 years old we were helping the same grandma use the restroom at a restaurant when my daughter told grandma, "You have a big bottom". The innocent honesty of children!!
ReplyDeleteI love your stories Rhonda! Yes, kids do have some "innocent" honesty, don't they? You can't even fault them for it.
