Rachel had an extended weekend due to teacher workdays so we headed to the mountains. The fall colors were just gorgeous and made me miss fall where I grew up. Living in the South, unless you are in the mountains you just don't see fall colors like you do in the North. So pretty. But now that we're back my mind is a bit foggy. I can't quite seem to get myself in gear and the mounding list of things to do.
Does that happen to you? You go to vacation for a bit and come back overwhelmed at all that needs to be done? How do you snap out of it? Half a pot of coffee hasn't worked so far, so any wisdom you have to offer would be great. Let me know!
Sometimes I wonder if the minivacation or even a regular vacation are worth it b/c I come back so overwhelmed I am not sure I even relaxed. Why is that? Instead of coming back energized and rejuvenated, we feel overwhelmed and unmotivated. I go from a place of peace and relaxation to being depressed and frustrated at all there is to do. I am sure there is some wisdom somewhere in this but I just can't see it yet.

Going away is getting away from our usual responsibilities and "the daily grind". When we come back, it is back to reality and responsibility again. It is always an adjustment for me. I find that if I make a list of a few things(and only a few) that I want to get accomplished I can slowly work my way back in without feeling overwhelmed. That way when you get the 2-3 things from your list done, you feel like you've accomplished something. Add a few more items to your list each day and pretty soon you feel back to a normal routine.
