Hello friends.
I have some random thoughts today. First, thanks so much for when you comment. I just love it. I love to hear your thoughts. They are precious to me. Thank you.
Second, I've been struggling with waiting. Waiting on some things from God. Actions. Opportunities. Gifts. Call it what you will, I'm a-waitin'. And waiting. And waiting. AND STILL WAITING. And this morning I just begged God to do something NOW. In this twenty-four-hour-today. (Because you know, a day is like a thousand years to the Lord and I sure as heck don't want to wait a thousand years! {Please don't hear disrespect in that. Sometimes my humor comes out in a way I didn't mean. And I know the Lord knows my heart, and knows the intent...sometimes I just need to make sure you do too.})
Do you know what word He answered with? I thought I'd share it today in case I'm not the only one waiting. Maybe you are waiting too. Well, this answer is straight from Scripture so you get to take it to the spiritual bank and pray this one with authority. Here you go:
Isaiah 60:22 "I am the LORD; (that's covenant Lord when its spelled with all caps. That means He is referring to Himself as the promise keeper, covenant maker. He is saying, "I'm the one that keeps His promise." So good to know!) in its time I will do this swiftly."
Let me say that again without my commentary in the middle, just so you get it.
"I am the LORD; in its time I will do this swiftly."
Put whatever emphasis you want to on whichever word means most to you, but that is some powerful stuff. I was reading in my devotional this morning "though He tarry, He is never late". Good stuff. Not so easy to swallow. But good stuff.
Dear friend, if you are in wait, your God is faithful to His promises...and in the perfect time, He will, He WILL do it. And not sluggishly. Not begrudgingly. Not resentfully. But swiftly, friends. Swiftly. And did you notice? He's gonna do it. Not you. Not your spouse. Not your friend. Not your parent. Not your boss. Not even you. So get out of the way, dear one. Make some room for Him to work. He's promised to do it.
"I am the LORD; in its time I will do this swiftly."
Do you ever find that sometimes no answer, IS the answer?
ReplyDeleteI don't know if this was a rhetorical question or not, but assuming its not, I would have to say no. I don't believe that no answer is the answer. I believe that God always answers. If we hear silence, it may be because He's already given His answer and we either didn't hear it, or want a different answer. And further, I believe that His answer is always Jesus. Either in Him, by Him, through Him or because of Him, there is nothing that God will give us besides what has been done through the finished work of the Cross in Jesus. That's how the New Testament writer got to say, "In Christ all God's promises are yes and amen!". That's my take on it, anyway. I don't think this is a "go-to-the-wall" kind of question. I think that there can be different answers on what you believe and we get to laugh about it in heaven together...you know what I mean?
