I found (what I hope to be) a great book on the life of C.S. Lewis by his step-son, Douglas Gresham. As I was flipping through the first pages, I saw his dedication and it made my heart flip. I just had to share it with you:
“This book is dedicated to Merrie just for being her, and that means everything.”
Do you know who Merrie is? His wife. How about that. This lady named Merrie has a husband who thinks that when she is just herself, not a role to play, not trying to please or accommodate, but just her, it is everything in the world to him. Just being her is all he could want. How about that.
And you know what else? Whether or not you are married, have a husband who would think, let alone say such words or not, you have a heavenly Husband who thinks exactly the same way. I’m not being trite here, really. The truth is, that at any given moment there is a Man, (dare I say, The Man) that to Him, when you are just yourself and nothing else, it means everything. Because He made you, friend. Just as you are. And He doesn’t make mistakes. Ever.
