Well, we've ushered in a new year. New hope. New beginnings. New opportunities. And in a few weeks, a new Bible study with a new leader. I have to admit, I have never felt so intimidated and small as when our fearless leader told everyone at our Christmas gathering that she would no longer be facilitating the Bible studies but had asked me to do it and I had accepted. Woah. I couldn't even look up for fear of what I might see in the eyes of those looking at me.
Newness can be upsetting to some, especially to those who like it the way it was. And Diane has done a fantastic job in walking with us through study after study, year after year. She has left some mighty big shoes to fill and I get very overwhelmed in imagining trying to fill those empty shoes. I'd much rather leave on my fuzzy slippers, thank you very much. But then I hear the Lord saying, "See, I am doing a NEW thing." "This is the way, walk in it." And I must accept the offer.
As we adventure a new Bible study together, I wonder if you won't take off your fuzzy slippers with me and put on some hiking boots. Let's do this new year right. Let's jump on board with God and see where He takes us. Let's do it together. Will you join me?
