I've been thinking about a phrase I heard a while back. One Degree Difference. The choices we make in the present that alter our course by one degree. Choice by choice. Sometimes the difference is off by just a smidgen. A half degree. Or a quarter degree. Sometimes, its dead on to the goals we set. And good for us when that happens.
For me, unless a goal is written down and then clarified by mini-goals, it will never happen. I will ultimately, continually make choices that are one degree different than my goal and end up 180 degrees from where I wanted to be. Anybody else? I think this is true for any kind of goal: financial, relational, spiritual, fitness, career...if we are not intentional in the every-day choices we make, we will find ourselves in the exact place we didn't want to be. Or swore we'd never be again.
For the three hours I've been up this morning, I'm making intentional baby choices to stay on course. How about you?
